Will All Of My Sites Be Affected?

I was thinking of starting one of those old school links pages, mainly because I thought I found a niche that really needed one. However, I've been reading that google hates them, and it will get de-indexed fast.
I have a few sites I'm working on. and I host them on one hostgator hosting account. If I did go ahead and build the link directory, could any of my other sites get slapped if the link-directory gets penalized and no-indexed? How does that work?
Edit: I could care less if the link site gets no-indexed. I'll promote it in other ways anyway. It's my other sites that I'm worried about.
