I changed my theme about a week ago but now I have an issue with the homepage. My old theme used pagination on the homepage, so it had excerpts on /page/1/ /page/2/ /page/3/ which was fine from a SEO point of view. My new theme, however, doesn't use pagination, which is just how I wanted it to be.

Now I just did a "site:" search in Google and am seeing the exact same text for every single /page/ result in the SERPs, which is about 20 pages.

Therefore, should I add these urls to my robots.txt file?

Also, I take it that a plugin like this - WordPress › SEO No Duplicate « WordPress Plugins - is good enough to avoid duplicate content on category pages?

Pagination isn't very good for SEO. If your now getting 404s for those old paginated pages, 301 redirect them to a live webpage (index page, sales page, etc...).

I'm not getting 404s. All the /page/ urls take me to the homepage, with the name of the url still intact. My issue is to do with what might be considered to be duplicate content. The same applies to the excerpts on category pages.
