I can purchase a listing in a niche directory for $500. There are 20 or so other obl and the page is pr5. Seem outrageously high but a PR5 is calling to me. Leading site in industry.

thoughts?

Never, besides, Google won't count it anyway, it's against their policy.
It's just a site owner trying to exploit people.

no. i think the listing costs too much. I think the money will be used wisely when invested in paid reviews (relevant) to your website.

Or look for some bloggers(have relevant pr2+ blog) who can write for your site with a little fee.

Aww hell no. First of all, that is way overpriced. I've seen PR5's for sale for less than half that.

Secondly, for $500, you could get so much more bang for your buck. You could pay a virtual assistant to go out and manually build links for you for several hours, or pay him to write a bunch of new content, etc.

Really depends on the directory and if that is a permanent link. People pay $300 to get into the Yahoo directory all the time. If it is very niche specific and an industry leader, possibly even something that can send direct traffic, yeah, I would consider it.

It is not against their policy at all. That is nonsense.

if the site is in your niche (and it should be) then do it. G cant tell you paid for a link. they dont monitor all business transactions. just a search engine guys....just a search engine.

You could buy, host and own a PR5 site for that investment. I'd probably prefer that path.

Huh? IMO $500 for a single listing seems too expensive even if the link is on PR5 page.

If the website can send targeted traffic to your website, then the listing is well worth it. If not, then there are better values out there.

There are very few things in IM that you know what you will get BEFORE you pay for when you spend that kind of money. That is no correct "pricing" for all people because there are too many variables.

the PR 5 link is on a site related to your industry and a top one at that right?

YOU know the true value of what you are trying to do. $500 might be chump change for the effect you get from that link.

Try to spread that money around and you will have a better chance of getting robbed, not overcharged, flat out robbed.

$500 is too much, and what are the PA & DA of the listing page?

Those metrics are worthless for determining the value of anything.

I wouldn't pay 500$ for a link. I would spent that money on Guest Posts.

Looks good, but $500.00... If you want it so much, purchase it, but I would first wait to see what will happen after the next PR update and if it is still PR5 and has UNDER 20 OBL's, then I could change my mind!

There are so many alternatives to directories these days, (Yahoo directory is not the sandbox escape tool it once was.)

Here are some of the few paid directories that get search engine respect, the PR is for their home page.

    Joeant.com pr6
    bestoftheweb.com pr6
    gimpsey.com pr5
    GoGuides.com pr5
Business.com pr7 perhaps if currently providing doFollow, feeds other biz searches. $299.00 per year, they sell ads as well.

Considering BOTW and Yahoo directory charge less, it seems overpriced as a SEO link, but maybe it has ample advertising merit for you?
