Sourcing Copyrighted Material

What are the best practices in sourcing copyrighted material for a website using Adsense? Do images need to be clickable and linked back to the source, or will simply providing a text link back to the sources website suffice?

I know of a website in the plastic surgery niche that has been banned recently from Adsense. I am curious to know the reasoning behind it and if it's due to them not properly sourcing the images on their site.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Going along with adsense you must keep in mind the TOS, don't do anything you're not sure about, you don't want your adsense get banned. Never think of using something that is not yours.
