Hello,

I was wondering if anyone out there has some good longtail keyword tips or know of any good tools. Preferably free! But willing to learn about others.

I took a look on the forum and only found several threads but they seemed outdated and most tools were no longer available.

General tips would be great!

Thanks

You can get several mid/longtail keywords by tracking your incoming search phrases over a period of time, the longer you track, the more detailed data you'll get.

I use the STT2 Wordpress plugin (free) for tracking incoming search phrases & traffic volume on the Wordpress Admin., I don't use the plugin on the live web pages. I turn Off all the options that try & display keywords on the live web pages.

As yukon said STT2 plugins can help you better in this case and you can also try by searching your keyword in Google and looking at the related searches at the bottom of the search page.

I use the Google Keyword Planner to generate a bunch of primary keywords. Then, I dump all of those into the Scrapebox keyword scraper, "append A-Z," and generate thousands of long tails. After that, I turn around and plug those back into the Keyword Planner to get search counts.

Seriously forget all tools apart from the Google keyword tool. You can do everything else manually, very quickly and very effectively.
Type in the keyword you want to rank for, click on the current #1 website. Press Crtl+U then press Crtl+f type in "keywords" press enter. Your welcome. Create long tail keywords out of what they are targeting.

How do you suggest creating a longtail out of that though? The purpose of my questions was tips on creating them.

Plug them into ubersuggest. Or, if you want to take it to a massive scale, grab Scrapebox and plug in about 50 "seed" keywords. Press the "append A-Z" button and Scrapebox will automatically do so for each keyword. (Just like Uber Suggest. But all of your keywords at once.)

You can even go 4 levels deep if you really want. If you do this, let it run for a bit and you'll have 50,000+ long tails.

Google Keyword Planner. It's free and good for me.
If not I type in a keyword and check the first 3 sites that appear in Google, view page source and find their keywords. Then add them to Google Keyword Planner and see more keywords.

Just remember, more keywords doesn't necessarily mean more traffic. Make sure to track incoming search phrases, so your getting traffic volume numbers, then you can compare your SERP position to the traffic volume & tweak your SEO for those known traffic keywords.

Example, If I have a page ranked at position #9 & I'm getting some traffic for a longtail keyword, tweak the SEO for that page & aim for position #1 for the same keyword. Repeat...

Google Suggestions is a perfect way to source out long-tail keyword variations. In the event that you have been utilizing the same catchphrase instrument every time that you direct research, then you will just be constrained to the long-tail keyword variations within its capacities.
As of now I am utilizing Wordstream's Free Keyword Tool and Hittail, unlike other keyword suggestion tool, gives back unlimited number of keywords, incorporating multi-word long tail keywords whether use in organic or paid search campaigns. It's not difficult to find long tail keywords with this free research tool. You just have to enter the keywords there that you want to research. These apparatus is an incredible compliment to what you are most likely utilizing for keyword research and will presumably recognize some new catchphrase varieties that will generate quality traffic.

    Hi Warriors,

I've been a daily reader of the Warrior Forum for several years and never felt the need to post because the way to wisdom is to listen. However, I will break my silence to introduce my new tool Keyword Phrase Generator. This tool is built with javascript (JSONP) and queries Google search suggest to flood your browser with relevent keyword phrases. Enter your seed text and suggest results will display as HTML in an expandable tree view. Results also record into a text area for exporting.

Hope this tool helps someone because I spent several weeks building and perfecting it. It's a cool tool for web searching too! Kinda like a power version of the little drop down suggest bar.

For long tail keywords I use more than one tool. I first run my search using Affilorama's Keyword research tool (on Affilotools) and I get a bunch of good long tail keywords. Please take note than the keyword research tool in Affilorama is powered by SEM Rush (which is not based from Google's Keyword Planner) so it will provide more keyword suggestions.

Then after getting the results from Affilotools, I will then run the keywords in Google Keyword Planner to check the rankings and competition for each keyword.

This will take time, especially if you have tons of keywords but it'll definitely be worth it- finding good long tail keywords.

I seldom get amped up for SEO and SEM tools...but, in the matter of keyword research it is basically difficult to generate a quality worksheet without any software. When I need to perform the same assignment for my clients, the procedure is all the additionally overwhelming and prolonged. I am using Google Adwords Keyword Tool, the most ubiquitous long tail keyword idea tool and it is a really exceptional instrument to find keywords. I am also using Wordstream, another SEM device that explicitly aides raise efficiency for assembling, handling and segmenting your keyword list.
