I need some help with my website. My Bounce Rate is around 60% and I'm looking to find some way to improve it. I've added a "Related posts" plugin, but I know it's not enough. Can you send me any suggestions?

Also, if you have a good plugin for "related posts", it would be great.

One way to help reduce bounce rate is to make all your external links open in new browser windows or browser tabs.

This leaves your own web page open in the traffics browser & it's possible traffic will return to browse your site later.

    Example:

    HTML Code:
    <a href="http://www.google.com" target="_blank">some text here</a>
Don't make internal links open in new windows, just the links pointing to external sites/pages.

Readers need contrast. Contrast between colors can make a dull story into an exciting one and, in turn, keep readers on your site longer.

Contrast is important to consider as the web moves faster towards different mediums of content, with more and more happening on the pages, it is important to use colors and patterns to draw your reader's eyes toward the important parts of the page.

Another factor is whether your site has a strong enough "Call To Action".

You need to tell the visitor what you want them to do next. Once they take that desired action and are taken to another page on your site, your they are no longer a "bounce".

Brian, thanks for your reply, but my site is a blog. I'm not sure what kind of "call to action" I could add.

You must make your website attractive and relavant to decrease the bounce rate. Your website page's loading time should be less.

try basic things make your website more interesting, Articles, blogs, pr let them rad and stay on your web page. you can put little games for visitor like if somebody is posting comment then there will counting 1 ,2 ,3 and after 10 a message appears hurray you have successfully posted and comment. this will help you to reduce your bounce rate. See bounce rate 60 % means you have huge traffic but may be not relevant traffic may be your marketing and email marketing are going to wrong so just check all this things.

Split your posts into two pages. There are a lot of advantages to doing this, but if you write posts people actually want to read they will go to page 2.

Why do you think ALL of the big websites break articles up into 4 or 5 pages? Imagine what happens to page views too...

I will say one thing about bounce rate. If you get really good organic traffic about a specific question, and you put the answer right in front of the reader, they may very well just get their answer and leave.

For example - how many cups are in a liter? If your page answers that, they may just leave. So sites that are built around targeted keywords and mostly organic visitors will tend to have higher bounce rates.

It's impossible to say that 60% is bad or 40% is good. It all depends on the site.
