A few domain questions

So I'm finally starting up my first niche site. Everything is done except for the domain itself. I'm thinking about buying an expired domain with some PR instead of a fresh one. (Yes I know that I have to do a proper backlink profile research etc.)

How important is the domain name? Let's say that my niche is about cars and I buy a short domain thats totally random and doesn't really make any sence, like 6kba.com and just label my site that. Would it make any difference compared to a domain called thecarsite.com? The keywords will be targeted to posts - like 6kba.com/keywordxx/ etc..

Brand the site ($10), then buy whatever PR domain you want & use it for links or 301 redirect the PR domain back to the branded domain.

What the? You mean like we do with networks? You have taken a few shots at me for talking PR domains and linking. Crossed over to the "dark side" (not dark at all actually)? Anyway good advice

I would suggest to start with a domain that was never registered before and use the expired domain names for links/301.

Yes this is a technique where you send an aged domains link juice directly to your new domain with a 301 redirect. Search it in the forums or in Google for a guide on how to do it, it's very easy.

Get something related to your niche. You dont want to get stuck with a crappy domainname.

Use the redirect trick some of the other posters mentioned if you want the previous links to give you some juice (not sure if that is worth the bother as I have never tried it).

Hi Friends, Well suggestion about domain. And in my opinion you have no need to think about it just find a relevant fresh domain and then redirect your old/expired purchase domain to new domain.

You really need to buy a fresh relevant domain of your niche and build your website or blog. For aged or expired domains, you can simply use it for 301 redirects.
