Wordpress blog idle for 1st year - beyond repair?

About a year ago, I registered a domain and installed Wordpress for a new project. I then got sidetracked with other projects, and the blog has been idle since that time, with only the "Hello World" post in place.

I'm coming back to this project now, but having trouble deciding whether to continue with this domain or start over on a new one. It's a nice, short, brandable domain, and I would really prefer to use it. But I'm worried that maybe Google will never get over the fact that it sat inactive for a year, with nothing on it except an empty Wordpress installation.

Opinions?

Google doesn't care how old the domain is when ranking pages. The advantage old domains might have is established internal/external links (links/pages indexed & reindexed multiple times). The domains on there own mean nothing for ranking pages.

Well it is one year old domain, It could of good value if you have done a little work on it. but yukon has a good point. If you have not build any internal external links than it doesn't matter how old is you site

It really doesn't matter, you can still "resurrect it from the dead". Since you haven't started building backlinks yet, I think there will be no problem on your part in terms of ranking it.

Not to be a douche, but my blog is an example of the fact that it probably doesn't matter. I had extremely little content and very few posts for over a year.

The first few posts that I've made are pulling traffic. Not server melting traffic or anything. About 30 UV out of google a day on 5-6 pages of new content over the past 2-3 months.

I had the same concern as you to be perfectly honest. I just wasn't sure if anything would rank.

It's very important to mention this simple fact ... Those pages have also attracted links. It's not as if I just made a few posts and Google decided out of goodwill to grant my domain access to the SERPs. People have given some of those few pages love.

I'm just trying to tell you my story isn't all gravy. It's true that it wasn't punished... But you've still got to do some basic work & link building to get anywhere. It's still a 2 way street.
