Should I Pay For Yoast Website Analysis Review?

I've come to my last attempt to salvage my 7 year old google news website.

I've tried everything my ranking never increased and scraper sites are stealing my hard work. I was told just don't worry about scrapers and focus on your content I did that hoping my site would get back to the top spot for my article never happened spending hours blogging and looking at my adsense at 35 cents makes it discouraging.

While a scraper ranks higher. I have a feeling my old theme ruined me in serp with some duplicate content issues such as category and tag pages being indexed, which I cannot remove to this day, I switched to studiopress and changed all the seo settings to noindex follow for archives, categories, tags, etc. and still when I do a site search those categories, dates /January/2010 and tags pages show up in search instead of articles.

I was told it takes months before you will see a change, but I doubt it.

So I read about Yoast website review they will analysis your site and figure out why you are ranking low in seo and tell you how to fix it, downside is it cot $1100 I don't have the money but I am desperate in hoping this will be a wise investment that will pay off. I've had a string of bad luck, losing everything, and nearly losing my home, and my websites traffic has plummeted and I have never been able to recoup my site trying to search and search online how to fix it. its been over 6 months.

Would this be a good investment or is it a risk because from what I read online nobody has ever been able to recover their search position once they fell off for good keywords.

First, ignoring sites that are scraping your content is just bad advice. It's not difficult to out rank an original source/page of content, it's all SEO. The page with the better SEO wins.

Second, it shouldn't take long for Google to remove pages from the SERPs, noindex the page, draw Googles attention to try & reindex the noindexed page/s. Done.

Third, I have no idea what Yoast does for SEO reviews, I know he's a smart guy when it comes to SEO. I'm also sure he's extremely busy so I kinda figure he's outsourcing or maybe has an in house staff (IDK). Do you have a link to his review service, just curious what he's doing for $1,100.

Personally, If I was about to lose my house, I wouldn't pay $1,100 for anything except house payments.

Fourth, you can always recover SERP positions, either same domain or new domain, just depends on how bad you want to rank & If you have the budget to make it happen.

I am using that studiopress theme. it has the built in genesis seo settings, than I read just yesterday that I shouldn't use a theme with built in settings because when a theme updates or you change a theme you lose all your seo settings and it can crash your site in serp and ruin you big time.

I was told to use SEO by yoast plug in if using a wordpress theme.

Also whats strange is I have a site in google news and some people tell me you must be making money and I say I wish I can't even get 100 visitors for new articles or even make 50 cents. The person telling me this was also in google news and told me he makes around 300-500 a day and gets tons of traffic.

What he told me was if your a site with a basic wordpress or a smaller site that doesn't have the authority or power or backing that a huge website does, you will get targeted by scrapers, he said smaller news sites in google news are easy victims of scraper sites its like mugging an old lady.

Also some of these scrapers have sh1tty sites, so I wonder how they are doing better seo? maybe it has to do with the technical aspects?

I don't think duplicate content hurts your site, I think internal or website duplicate content is whats hurting, I see so many people post the same article and still rank on search, so its not a big issue as google claims.

What could be hurting is the duplicate content on a site like having several links to tags an categories pointing to the same article on your site.

Do you think the reasons why my categories are still showing in search after noindexing them is because I switched my server to a new host server? I don't get it I thought Genesis theme is supposed to be good.

Save your money for expenses !

SEOprofiler offers $1 free version for 1 month. It will give you every Monday a good audit of your site. Pointing out errors and easy access to them to fix things.

Combine that with screamingfrog (free) and find duplicate content and other info you couldn't find in SEO profiler.

Both of those together will more or less give you everything you need to make your onpage SEO almost perfect.

1 dollar only? sounds too good to be true. But I looked at it and it says something about helping you get backlinks, if you pay for backlinks you will never recover from panda or penguin, Its illegal now.

NO, They don't build backlink. They audit your site, compare it with top ranking site for the same keyword and suggest you changes. They point you to top quality sites and show proper ways to get a backlink from them. You can ignore it and just concentrate on the audit part alone.

So google won't penalize you for ordering a service from them? I am scared because 1 dollar sounds too good to be true, it doesn't sound like a thorough audit though. Sounds like something basic that you could already know like they just tell you that you have thin content or something, but will not help you with technical issues such as source coding problems.

          I am just very nervous.

It's Just 1$ you can give it a try. If you are nervous about Google penalizing then don't get the links.. Just go over web audit and optimization section. You got nothing to lose

If all else fails, I'd be inclined to register a new domain using a fresh account on a different registrar using a different owner name, get new hosting on a totally different server and then clone the old site to the new domain.

I would then 301 redirects for all of the most important old pages with the exception of the home page. I would then create a fresh gmail account and Webmaster tools account and add the new domain to that Webmaster tools account.

I would then wait 3-4 weeks and see what happens while slowly building quality links to the new home page.

The above will cost you less than $100 and maybe 3 hours work total.

Not a lot to risk and well worth a shot in my opinion. This system has worked for me several times in the past 12 months.

    Good luck.

$1100 for an SEO report? Oh my..., I think there are better ways to spend your money.

It obvious won't be a basic report but still.

I'm pretty sure that you could get a comparable review on Fiverr for $5
$1100 does seem a bit pricey. And if the current site is being penalized by google then the money would be wasted as you wouldn't be able to recover the site.
If it was mine, I'd run a quick review through a free or close to free company and follow the steps that Squadron above mentions.

      Your comparing Yoast to fiverr?

That's like comparing a Maserati to a Yugo when it comes to SEO.

I have no idea what Yoast includes for the $1k price tag but I seriously doubt the guy is delivering fiverr type work.

I've spent some time researching what Yoast does with his own sites (not other peoples opinions), the guy knows what he's doing.

Like I said earlier about OP nearly losing his home, If I was about to lose my house I would only be spending that $1k on a mortgage payment. That's me though, I'm just funny about wanting to have a roof over my head.

isn't fiverr dangerous? like how do you know if you are going to get a legit auditor , I heard stories of people who had their sites hacked there when trying to get a cheap audit done to help find whats wrong with their site.

I don't now anything about this company, but if you are serious about making money you should definitely take risks and try to improve yourself.
Few months ago I paid $700 for 45 minutes call, where the guys told me how to optimise my page to convert better. I can definitely say it is worth the money!

First of all, i am an expert at recovering sites from panda related penalties and can hack wordpress up and make modifications, deindex bad pages etc to make your site perform a lot better.

I will work on a no improvement, no payment basis. If you are interested please get in touch via PM.

Yoast review is overpriced, plus i am better. I'm in the trenches every day and have had countless sites penalized and recovered. I will be happy to take a look, although if its really messed up i wont tackle it and advise you make a fresh start if possible.
