Inner pages PR higher than homepage,why?

I have a online store.The home page PR is 2.
But some inner pages PR is 3.
Can you tell me why? I think homepage PR is higher than inner pages. All inner pages link to the homepage.
I built most of backlinks to homepage .

    Inner pages PR higher than homepage,why?
    The internal pages have links pointing at them with a higher PR than the incoming home page links.

    What Yukon said is absolutely correct. I bet the reason you and most other people get confused about this is the wrong belief in the idea that websites have page rank.

    That is not true. Pages have pagerank, not sites. And since page rank comes from other PR"ed" links, if you have higher PR links pointing to an inner page than your homepage, than of course your inner page will have a higher ranking.

    Its as simple as that if people would get this right - Pages have page rank not sites!

    Hi,
    It might be possible that inner page PR is higher than home page PR. It is not necessary that always home page PR is higher than inner page PR.
    Basic reasons:-
    • Building backlinks from high PR sites with inner page
    • Building backlinks from high domain authority sites with inner page
    • If you highlight the particular page means all other pages are "nofollow" then it might be the reason of getting high PR inner page.

    yes, sometime it happens for several reasons like home page is not properly optimized and low quality links, high numbers of outbound links without nofollow tag while inner page is optimized properly and have high authority backlinks.

      Nofollow links still lose pagerank, they just don't pass it on.

      However your correct, the more outbound links the more LinkJuice the page bleeds out.

    Sometimes Main page (yoursite.com) is too broad for Google to evaluate, when you add name for pages (your site.com/pagename) Google will compare relevance on page with page name and will give some PR if you have an unique content. If relevant site linking to this page, your PR will increase. It is best for SEO purpose not to modify pages that have increasing PR, otherwise PR can drop.

    Your inner pages rank may be higher than your home page because your inner page is getting traffic more than your home page, or you have built links for your inner pages, these are the main things to understand.
