When commenting on other people's/sites blog posts, and if you are given the option to put in your url along with your name, do you put on just the example.com or do you put in a full url like example.com/thingsiwantpeopletobuy

Does the backlink help the specific page on your site, or just the entire site in general?

Appreciate some help on this one

Cheers

According to me most blogs have the nofollow tag on the links still you can try it by making them looks natural and make comment on same niche as the blog

Most of the blogs are with nofollow tags but some of the blogs are dofollow. But you need to try to find relevant blogs and make your comment natural.

Blog commenting can be effective provided your comment is valuable. But we don’t recommend it. Aside from the reason that most sites are moderated, it is also time consuming. Deleted comments would cause negative link velocity and could decrease your rankings.

Never use your MAIN website! Use it only for tier2 backlinks. Example:

You have a site.com (your main website).
You create 5-6 blogs (blogger, wordpress, squidoo, hubpages, etc.). Link back to your main website from them!
Then build backlinks to THOSE 6 blogs using blog commenting! And also some other SEO strategies for much better results!

There are 2 ways to do blog commenting.

1 - "Blasts" using a tool like Scrapebox. (Or a Fiverr gig.) These can be OK for your tiers. But you need to throw in other types of links as well. And never, ever, point these at your main site.

2 - Leaving legitimate, quality comments on moderated blogs. A handful of these each day is just fine. More if you've got a few extra minutes. And you can point these directly at your sites. Just leave comments that you'd approve on your own blog and you'll see solid approval rates as long as the blogs are still actively being updated. Go for new posts on high traffic, niche-related blogs if you want the added benefit of targeted traffic flowing back to your site.

I put the full link while commenting in blogs. I think it gives traffic to the whole site. But you have to make sure that your website and your content should be catchy so that the visitors are forced to click your site and spend sometime seeing your content. You will be known by other bloggers and readers and they will see your comment, then profile and then will head over to your blog or website but always make your are relevant to your niche and not spammy.

If you do blog commenting make sure you do relationship building and not link building alone. It'll benefit you and your site long term..

I think this is the right answer here. This is why I'm leaving just the plain front page URL. "This is who I am if you want to know who's behind this comment."

If the links are dofollow AND the blog owner accepts all comments - well, it's likely that you're just adding your link to a festering pile of spam.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

I don't use blog comments for backlinks. I use it to gain relationships with other bloggers towards my niche, hoping that eventually one day they'll give a shoutout on one of their posts with a link going back to my site.

By default most sites like blogspot.com, wordpress.com are of no-follow tags, use your real name in name field and just place one or two links with useful description, make it natural for search engine i.e.., do not stuff with keywords. By doing so, your seo efforts wont be wasted.

Blog comments are good for adding a unique domain/subdomain to your list of inbound domain but don't really help that much, if any in ranking.

Also you can't use the keyword as your name as most blog owners will just trash your comment so there's no point other than for the above mentioned reason

Well. A good idea would be to get a few backlinks to your inner pages (your articles if you are trying to promote a blog!). Just don't forget to make the comment look natural and if possible try to post it and make it interesting for people. Also your websiteshould be really SIMILAR to the page you post the comment to. Don't forget to do a proper keyword density for all those blog comments!

    Not recommendable unless:
    a.) it's a good comment
b.) it's coming from a really good website.
    c.) do not go overboard

The panda update is hitting on anchor texts a lot these days and this is one of them.

Blog comments do still count, and these can also drive traffic to your website.. Just make sure the quality and relevancy to the topic.

    - Make sure the comment is in contextual link format, your anchor is within a well structured paragraph or sentence.

    - Create something that is also informative or if have additional information better to share it to your comments and put your anchor text inside or a reference link. This is two way approach, possibility to get visitors to your site and is also favorable to the article above so higher the chance to be accepted even though it would be a no-follow link.

I always put the link of my homepage when commenting on other people's sites, of course, only when I am commenting manually, without blasting out comments with scrapebox

The scrapebox works for Tier 3 backlinks.

Natural comments always get approved. Don't go for Thanks good job, awesome article, informative, nice such kind of comments. Always comments with useful information, appreciation with reason or explanations, you can do queries related to the blog topic and information.

This was the information about comments information that always got approved and always shows you are genius user.

I would recommend to use both links website home page (/) and internal webpage as well. Only Should be relevant to the blog article only.

First of all let me clear you that ... blog commenting will not help you for keyword promotion or neither a good way to get backlinks. Most of the webmaster uses Nofollow tag in their website or blog. If someone does that then be careful with the backlinks thing because of the good websites never allow you to add links.

Of course use specific page which suits niche of that websites...

    Hi,,

I'm glad that you've asked this question, because I'd like to add my opinion to the discussion.

Blog comments. Blog comments used to be a great linking source.

Today though, when I review my personal link profile or one of my clients link profiles -- the blog commenting backlinks do show up.

Truth to the matter is though -- they're all rel="nofollow" links.

At the end of the day, a nofollowed link doesn't provide any value at all to your link profile. I know that people have stated that in order to maintain a normal backlink profile, nofollow links are a must and while that is true -- to answer your question -- blog comments do not help your rankings.

Always try to create quality backlink. So when you comment make sure you post on a related site or blog and put your site's home page URL.

I don't get why the comment has to be great quality ?.So if your comment is great quality then the link somehow becomes magically important to google and if its not then its spam ?. Its not like google can differentiate between a crappy one and a quality post.

The only thing that i will look for is the blog page you're commenting on being spammed to death or looks like the author approves post. Also the people thinking they can get traffic from blog comments are dreaming, dream on!.

If you're looking for traffic from blog comments, you must be really desperate. I suggest you go build a wordpress blog, buy a fiverr gig blast it with spam and you will still get a lot more genuine traffic than blog comments. Blog comments are great for adding diversity to your link profile but their value for link juice is a goner.
