I have found some nice .me domain names but was wondering if anyone has had experience with ranking those in organic search?

A Domain extension has nothing to with rankings; it all depends on what kind of backlinks you get.

With that being said, Yes, I have successfully ranked a .me domain on the first page of google.

        Your welcome.

I have found out that .me domains are very good for branding. I registered 6 of them when namecheap was running a sale last month.

I will respectfully disagree with the previous warrior .The .me type of extension are been used by people who are looking for cheap domain names to build bunch of fake SEO websites .And Google knows it .
I mean you can rank anything with a keyword that has low to none competition.
Just my 2 sense to the subject.

I think you are getting .me domains confused with .info extension.

How can you say that .me domains are cheap?

Namecheap has them priced at $8.99 while Godaddy has them for $9.99

They are good for branding yourself, but I have a hard time ranking them.
I have quit trying to rank them and let them rank on there own.

I disagree, .me domains are not good. People don't view them like a .com domain for one, and number two I think by looking at search results it is clear that .com, .net, .org, .edu and .gov are all favored over .me. I have never seen one rank, and some of the .info and such that I have seen rank are in very low volume searches. Don't fret on exact match so much, Google is getting smarter and smarter, you can rank a domain that has none of the keywords in it just as easy. Make something brand-able that people will talk about rather than getyourwigetatthecheapestpricetoday.me.

You obviously don't know how SEO works if you think google favours .com, .net. or .org over any particular extension. Just because you haven't seen something doesn't it don't exists.

Nobody here is talking about exact match; neither about creating worthless MFA site. Don't make up things as you go.

If you are creating a site that is worth linking to, you will get good search engine ranking.

No one knows what Google Values but google but I agree with him, I have found it is hard to rank .mes which means that Google carries them with less weight. Simple observation with experience, I have tried about a dozen with no great success, I think I had one at 700,000 on alexa and that was a micro niche.

I don't know what you did, but the term I was targeting was moderately competitive. It was a web app which had a good demand so it was not hard to get good backlinks. I think it all comes down to backlinks in the end.
