Dynamic Phone Number Insertion & Citations

My call tracking platform offers a feature to change the phone number on a website based on the source of the traffic. I assume G would see this as inconsistencies with my citations and could hurt rank.

Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

Citations really only matter for local SEO. If you are using phone numbers based on the visitor's location, I'm guessing you are targeting a broader market.

When I said source, I meant what site they are coming from...Google, Facebook, Adwords, Youtube, etc. This is for local sites.

Mike knows more about local than I do but local for phone numbers in the US is the first 6 digits of a phone number (including area code).

Example: 555-123-4567

Google knows the GEO locations of those first six digits of a US phone number. I would make it a point to stay in that local phone number range.

The numbers will all be local. The point of the changes is so we can track how many calls come in from different online sources - search, social, direct, etc.
