Massive Drop In Google Rank

About a month ago Google decided to literally wipe my site off the charts. I had 4 position #1 keywords and plenty in the top 10. I am still wondering if this had anything to do with the fact that my Hostgator server was down for 2 hours or had Google actually reviewed my entire site and decided that it was to be penalised.

Have any of you guys experienced such issues before? I have gone from 800 clicks a day to 60 and am in dire straits as to what to do.
