How many no clicks per impressions before pausing keyword?

Hi Gang

Sorry, me again. If I've got an ad which is doing about 1-2% clicks, and have a keyword in that group which has got 30 impressions but no clicks, is it time to kill that keyword, or should I leave it longer. What I'm worried about is the longer I leave it, it contributes to the lowering of my click through rate.

Thanks,
Phil

I'd wait a bit longer than that mate, say 1,000 impressions.

Loz Me Ol' Mucker, how's it going!!

Wooaah, 1000 impressions!!! I would love to do that but then wouldn't that send my CTR rate spiriling down, I understood that once your CTR is below 1% for a while, you'll never get back up to a decent Quality score again as Google has already decided you're a bit sh1t?? Mate, this PPC thing is doing my head in, but I know it's the way forward so I gotta get it cracked.

    Cheers,
    Phil

al'right brov' long time no hear... hope you're doing well mate

Dude, you should be getting double CTR on your ads...

name your campaign your keyword, name your adgroup an associated keyword that's very close to the keyword you bid on.

ensure ad has keyword in title, and at least one description line, and definitely in the domain name, or add a forward slash with the keyword in it.

remove content network, and partner network.

geo test your ad first before narrowing down to a pacific town, city, borough, state, etc...

double the bid that google recommends.

set daily budget to about 20$ or 20 quid

split test your ad until you get double CTR

once you get the double CTR, lower your bid cost (normally this will be reduced automatically any way), but lower it as you tweak your ad...

once it's performing... increase your daily bid amount...

more you're willing to spend after you have established an account history with adwords, the more impressions you get, and assuming your ad is split tested and performing well, your CTR will remain consistant Double figures, while the CPC becomes less

I can take "internet marketing" which is about $3 a click or something, down to 38 cents and still rank higher, be charged less than anyone else.

split test, optimize, split test again, optimize...

    spin and repeat

That's awesome stuff, and thanks for typing all that out as I bet you've already probably had to tell people that stuff many times before. You rock!
