Traffic from .ru sites. Why/How?

When I check on my website traffic stats on hostgator lately I have noticed a lot of traffic from many different ru domains and in the country stats Ukraine is where many come from. When I click on the .ru site I don't find any link to my website on these ru sites that a visitor could click and come to my site. Can anyone explain how this ru domain traffic is coming to my site.

    It's not the legit traffic from .ru, it's weblog spam. They use bots with faked referrer data.
    They expect you to click on those links from your stats page, in the worst case those sites will try to infect your browser. I have also a lot of traffic from Ukraine, it most likely is a bot.

    That's a really old trick. I think that all started years ago trying to get gullible webmasters to think they're getting traffic from another site, with hopes of getting a backlink.
