Hello there

As of now I have a keyword in the baby product niche that gets about 5000 searchss per month according to googles keyword tool. I am on 1st page number 1 and 2(indented) in google.co.uk and number 3 in google.com

Stats show that I get about 40 uniques per day. I've only been at number 1 for about 1 week now but I still havent refered a sale. It is for a physical affiliate product.

I was linking to Amazon but now they have limited choice for that product so now I've set up an affiliate account with Kiddicare.com as theres more choice.

Any ideas on how I can get my first sale. Seems like I've worked hard to get to number 1 but no sales. Is it too early to say ? Let the whole month ride out then talk?

Thank you for your reply.

Let it ride for a while longer. Are you split testing? It might be your copy some other small tweak that needs to be done.

For sure - way too early.

What about your landing page - have you tested it?

Tweaking it will make a big difference in sales.

Thank you for your replies guys, I havent split tested (yet) because If im thinking right, my keyword is the name of the actual physical product so shouldn't they really be clicking on to the product link itself? My landing page is actually my wordpress homepage itself with blogpost. It's cleary sign posted with pages "Buy product name". That page has affiliate links for the product.

    Thank you

Are you doing any type of presell? --Why they should buy and the benefits they would recieve? Even if they are poised to buy, just a little extra push might help.

Yeah I think I'm doing that right. Im explaining this and that then at the end

I think it might be to do with the fact that amazon doesn't look like a good place to buy this baby product even though its a good brand name. With Kiddicare, this looks like an actual good place to buy the product. I dunno...

So is there any way you can track how many people are clicking your affiliate link?

Also, how about the product's sales page?

Is it any good? It might be poor and so this is where you will lose out.

You might be sending a ton of valuable traffic to a poor converting product.

This is one of the difficult things about being an affiliate - you have no control over the product itself.

In the long term - you are better off selling your own product. Of course, this is more work and it doesn't mean to say you cannot make good money being an affiliate.

Test the product for 1000 affiliate clicks/people and see if it converts.

Then - test a similar product from a different supplier and compare.

    It will take sometime.

I heard a good rule of thumb is around 1 sale per 200 unique visits but I think you need to give the site a little longer at page one before you see those kind of results.

    Good luck.

Sometimes i guess it takes more trys.i had positions #3,#5,and #7 on the first page of Google[within quotes] for 1 long tail keyword for 3 weeks with no sales.
Everyone talks about ezine arts, well,i was 1 position higher than him without being on EA.
So im going to try a few more things and if they dont work,i might try another product. It just time, and trying different things.Im going to try some of the things the other warriors have said since im a nuubee.

Either your sales copy sucks, the offer sucks, or the keyword that you're ranking for sucks.

Ranking #1 for any term isn't going to guarantee sales. And there lies much of the frustration with SEO. You won't know what search terms are converting until you've already busted a nut getting them to rank.

Give it some time though. You can't expect accurate SEO performance data in a week.

    Hi Michael,

It would be easier to diagnose your site if I were able to see the URL.
