Excessive Link Title Tags

I recently took over the SEO for a Criminal Defense Lawyer Website. They are doing pretty good in Google for certain keywords but they have been banned from yahoo.

I noticed that every link on their content, left nav, footer etc has a link title that sometimes copies the name of the link.

Is this considered keyword spamming the search engines and that is why they were banned from yahoo?

Would it be best to remove the link titles?

This won't be the reason why. I have title tags on links with some of my websites. They usually include other words though to make it decriptive and not just exact copies of the anchor text itself.

If they're banned from Yahoo, have you checked to see if they are linked to any bad neighbourhodds? or have used any other blackhat techniques?

Adding the title attributes in the correct manner will definately NOT get you banned unless maybe the overall density is sky high.

Goispage, as Andy said if the density is too artificial that may be the problem, not the actual link title.

I'd check for on-site over optimization, and possible keyword stuffing..

The only way it could be considered kw stuffing is if the title attributes are super long. The true definition of kw stuffing doesn't even apply to title attributes anyway, it applies to the content.
