Hi Warrior Friends, Kindly help me. My website got hit with the penguin 2.1. Since now SEO only depended upon quality relevant links so should I have to disavow all directory submissions, social bookmarkings, also web 2.0 websites back links? Please advise me. Thanks

You need to remove backlinks before you disavow. As Matt Cutts said just disavowing links that are bad in mass without link removal wont do anything.

Use a link removal service like linkdelete, I have had good experience with them and have them working on a new campaign for a website that was hit by penguin 2.1. Some sites that i receieved unnatural link warnings on they got the penalty removed. So I'm sure with a good link cleanup my other domain will be back in action.

Yes, low quality directory submission and social bookmarking links needs to be removed so as to get rid of Google penalty.

Certainly bad/unnatural links are needed to be removed that causes harm to the sites progress. Simultaneously, before trying with disavow tool, just be sure if you'd really need that option to remove the links. Matt Cutts had once mentioned it precise to conduct an audit of the back links first and then to move with the tool (unless it is required).

Just for the sake of removing bad links, your website should not be harmed. Alternatively, why can't you give a try to "reconsideration request" once you remove the back links manually (note: not via disavow tool).

Its easy to remove social bookmarking links. Do it manually then go for directory disavow.

Yep, you could prefer the URL mentioned by one of the warrior members. If you'd still want a clear picture stating gradually, then you can look here: https://support.google.com/webmaster...er/35843?hl=en

You can also catch up with the video of MattCutts explaining about the actions performed for reconsidering your website.

      Good luck!

You need to remove or vanish those links which are spammy whether they are from authority site or low pr site.

    Why people still do submissions?

Hand picked quality directory and social bookmarks can get your traffic & better rankings. Submitting things is basically the opposite and should be avoided.

About disavowing. Do you actually have any legit links? If not, then disavow won't help you either.

First make sure you got hit cause of links,
Secondly If you are, try removing them manually, not a good idea to use disavow so early.

Direcgtory and social bookmarks were the reason my website got unnatural link penalty from google. They used those links as an example in the email I received from them. I had to use linkdelete for my link removal to remove my penalty.

I think you have penalty as well.

Looks like the Boogle Man is out to get you. You guys are getting obsess with Disavow links.

First of in real life people will bookmark your pages so do not sweet it. I believe high authority web directories and bookmarks will not hurt your site just make sure the category is related to your site. Also make sure they do not all have the same anchor text.

Try to remove all the bad one by closing the accounts or get a a service like other people said.

Disavow is automated, but I would guess Google makes it hard on people that spam.

On one hand you refer to 'relevant links' but then say you have directory submissions and bookmarkings. None of this would be considered relevant or high quality. Best to see if you can delete these backlinks, have them taken down and then disavow if that's not possible.
