Questions about transferring a wordpress blog

Hey there,

I am going to be transferring my WP blogs' content to another word blog platform, probably WP as well but with a different keyword rich subdomain.

What I am worried about is if the search engines penalize the new blog with duplicate content. If I close the previous WP blog right after transferring the XML file, would this be a concern?

Another reason is because of links which I've built which might be penalizing the blog ranking. These were mostly on high pr spammy blog commenting sites, which were mainly auto approve with other spammed links etc.

    As long as you close down the previous domain you should be OK.

    Step 1) Save backup of current domain

    Step 2) Close current site and delete all content & do one final blast to the site (gets google to see it's changed quicker than it would naturally)

    Step 3) Wait a week and put old content on the new domain
