Overoptimized anchor text %
- SEO |
My website has been hit with a penalty after the 10th of October with my homepage rakings taking a dive leaving the interior pages unscathed. Penguin 2.1 I assume.
A quick check of my backlink profile reveals that 82% of the anchors are the same.
However, the anchor text used is 'my name' and not some dodgy (money) keyword.
Question is, does Google make a distinction between money keywords and very generic keywords such as 'my name'?
If not, it would mean that big brands and/or celebrities run the risk of a penalty on the basis that other websites link to them using their (brand) name as the anchor right?
Surely Google does not have that 'semantic' capability to make that destinction?
Should I clean up the link profile and remove these links which has 'my name' as the anchor text?
Thank you
