Use the Yoast plugin and read his blog first. Forget all the nonsense 'software' to 'shoot you to the top' and do the basics properly.

  I agree, I was new to blogging and SEO just a few months ago and installed Yoast SEO, Its a kinda step by step thing and you can see what you are doing.

I was using all-in-one seo plugin for ages but switched all my sites to WordPress SEO Plugin as it's just WAY better and super simple to set up.

I also like the fact that Joost makes it a point to stay ahead of all the changes that happen from Google. He's also fast to include any of those changes so you know the plugin will always be targeting the latest Google algorithm changes and quirks.

I would strongly recommend to use WordPress › WordPress SEO by Yoast « WordPress Plugins

This is a great plugin with very good automation. I am using this plugin for years on my sites.
