Hi guys

this guy says maybe paid links are part of the latest algo change- what are your thoughts?

Penguin 5, With The Penguin 2.1 Spam-Filtering Algorithm, Is Now Live

Anyone in particular had paid links and got slapped? Its quite a vague statement i guess, paid links can mean a whole range of things

All my sites have paid links (sorry they do).

The ones that got slapped though were the web 2.0 sites with spun content and tiered link spam propping them up.

There was a debate, but again until some one reported you are buying links, it is hard for Google to discover with millions or trillions of web sites out there.

Nothing new about a paid link slap. Always been there.
If you buy links to shmooze PR, you may get slapped.
If your accepts paid links, you may get slapped.

Your PR suffers because google subtracts the links,
lowering your PR (if applicable.) Lowering of PR
also lowers plenty of other things, but only to
      their natural levels.

Many people think slipping to where they naturally would
be is a penalty. It's not. If you eat junk food and watch
TV 24 hours a day, run a marathon, finish last, you
did not suffer a penalty. You finished exactly where you
      should.

Google only guesses at paid links for PR shmoozing.
