My site only generate 20 person traffic per day and with a conversion rate of approximately 5%, does building backlinks nowadays still work nowadays?

Building backlink is a tedious process, but if its worth, I would give it a try but I wonder nowadays this is an effective mean or not? If yes, what are the recommended free tools available to help me for that? Is there any website or tools that allows me to search for site that allow me to post comments and websites..etc? Any more ideas in generating backlinks to drive traffic to my site?

What about social bookmarking? Is it still good? What are the recommended best 5-10 bookmarking site you use most?

First off, if you have a 5% conversion rate, you may want to look into PPC. I highly doubt you have a 5% conversion rate or you would not be on here looking for advice, you'd be sitting pretty.

Well good back links are important, content is king. If you write good content, sell a good product, do social bookmarking and spend some money on PPC to get customers to you, your customers will do the back-linking for you. Especially if you have a "5% conversion rate".

Yes backlinking works but only if you know what you're doing. If you're going to use free tools then you'll be wasting your time. Just buy yourself high pr domains and link them to your site!

Yes, but you need to do it the right way.

You can't just go round creating free links or using software to build links. You will only get a penalization.

You need to be strategic about link building these days and that means building links which build value to the source website and your own.

You can literally tap into massive traffic sources through link building.

i have considered ppc but they are not sustainable unless you constantly invest money into ppc campaign, right? so the best method available so far is having backlinks from high PR sites and ensuring my sites have fresh and good contents? correct?

any backlinks tools recommended?

I guess it still works to some extent, as some report getting results from it.

But you should consider a few things:

1. Organic traffic is the worst converting traffic.
2. The artificial method for creating backlinks is unnatural and Google will sooner or later find a way to sink all those sites in the rankings (only natural backlinks and highest relevance and quality content can have consistent success staying on top of Google search results)

If you have the budget, PPC is always an option - but remember that you still have to learn the ropes, so to speak. Who is your prospect, what kind of ad would he react to and how would he look for what you're offering are important questions that need to be answered.

If you provide quality and entertaining content, article syndication is a great method to generating traffic.

hmm any actual proof of this? I do tend to actually agree with it though. Most are tyre kickers or competitors.

right...seems like a huge contradiction to me. No-one really knows w hat G. wants and they keep changing the goal posts.

(only natural backlinks and highest relevance and quality content can have consistent success staying on top of Google search results)

Of course it still works.

But it depends entirely on how you build back links. Do your best to build back links via white hat techniques. Organic back links are the best.

From what I heard, writing guest posts for various blogs is a great way to build links.

so let's say iam a funeral parlour business in Chicago... to get top seo rankings i have to educate "customers" and entertain them? That should be fun?

SEO is a joke.

First off, I don't think you fully grasp the concept of article syndication, as it has nothing to do wit SEO whatsoever.

Secondly, if you'd bother to check how are the Chicago's funeral parlour businesses ranking, you'd see that they are still posting quality information on relevant sites, which gets them ranked.

Although my post was regarding online businesses, with the point being made that SEO isn't a reliable long-term traffic strategy for internet marketing.

Stand by my statement. G make people jump through all kind of B*S* hoops in the hope of good rankings. Then they change everything at the drop of a hat.

Running a business isn't about posting blogs/articles/videos all day long to please G. it's so far removed from what a successful business really is.

SEO is a waste of effort. Give it the heave ho!

If you want your website to be around for a long time- you should not "build" backlinks. It is always a loosing strategy in the long-term. Google will eventually catch up to whatever you are doing and your site will be zapped from the SERPs for good.

Instead of "building backlinks" -- focus your energy on creating stuff that people want to link to- and then make sure it gets noticed the right people. People who will link to it. Use twitter and email to reach out to them and get noticed. This is the only strategy for the long term.

I think back link are still work because i have the high rank in SERP because of link building. But you shouldn't building with bad link such as Signature, Site wide and other old trick, However the quality back link are good for get the high.

So when you try to get some back link with anchor text should be quality such as not generate or copy some sentence and mix to one. And should put the content with the relate website with your money site. Such as Shoes should be link to Shoes category.
