How long has it been since the last update. 9 Months? Sheesh. I know people say PR is not important and everything. But places like Flippa still use it as a metric to valuate a website. What do you think guys? Is Google going to update their page rank any time this year? Are they going to update it ever at all?

Yea I just checked. Someone asked him "Will there be a PR updated before 2014?"

For that he replies "I will be surprised if that happens"

Does this mean that there is never going to be a PR update ever again? Does this mean that there will be a PR update next year? -_-

PR has never really been important. It's more of a vanity metric. When it comes to making a blog network, you just use PR to see if there any links to that domain quickly before you really start to investigate.

I couldn't tell you how many domains I find with PR 3-4 with a few links to it. Look at Moz metrics a bit more and Majestic SEO flow.

If PR is not important then why you are not purchasing fresh domains and creating blog networks using those brand new domains?

I donk think Google going to update the toolbar this year because Google is busy in shutting down their old bad services and products that is why they have no time for PageRank but i think update will come in 2014 first week or at new year nights

When was Matt Cutts put in charge of PageRank?

I assume many people still confuse the various teams google has.

Ahhh. I can also assume that would be why there is misinformation that people
      just spout off.

Think of Matt Cutts as more quality control, as opposed to creating something.

I can list you 101 advantage of PR.

Don't listen to anyone who says it's not important, atleast for the time been.

However, we are not likely to see any PR update this year.....

About the same length of time that blog network owners started trying to manipulate it by propping up their networks with crappy link profiles. Thats around the time I stopped trusting PR in general. Sure almost every metric can be manipulated but PR seemed to go the way of Alexa. Too easy to falsey bloat out.

Theres loads of other metrics out there these days. I love Netpeak Checker as a tool for this as it free.

Guys I am finding it hard to sell my website without the next PR update. I been waiting since forever. If my PR was 4 instead of the 0 it is now, my website would sell for a lot more money. Yea PR is useless and it can be manipulated. But as long as people value it, it is going to be important. Frankly I wished the world moved on to DA instead. But its not like they are listening to me lol. I went from 0 to 330K backlinks in this time. My domain authority went from 10 to 45.

Members who you are trying to say PR is not important for all of those...

PR is, was and will always be important for SEO. Google intentionally stopped updating PR info publicly because they know we know few good PR backlinks can easily manipulate rankings. Thats why nowadays everybody is trying to own private blog networks. For Google Quantity of backlinks is still important to measure authority of a webpage. PR depends of quantity of backlinks mainly.

Yes, this might be because of the updated Google Panda and Penguin. They updated it in order to combat Black-hat SEO tools. Anyway, there are still a lot of ways to enhance your website's rankings. There are these white-hat SEO tools and strategies that you can still use within being punished by Google Panda or Penguin.
