There are a lot of tools that can do that for you SamuelBell, but using automated tools to query Google's index for rankings and such violates Google's terms of service. Just telling you that so you know.

    See
Automated queries - Webmasters/Site owners Help

"Google's Terms of Service do not allow the sending of automated queries of any sort to our system without express permission in advance from Google. Sending automated queries absorbs resources and includes using any software (such as WebPosition Goldâ„¢) to send automated queries to Google to determine how a website or webpage ranks in Google search results for various queries."

That also applies to checking for backlinks too.. can't tell you how many times a new client has come to me asking me why their rank has dropped, only to find they have been using these kind of tools far too often.

      Mick,

Are you positive that checking your ranking with a tool like seobook actually can hurt your ranking? I have been using this tool to check sites at least once a week, and I haven't noticed anything. Granted, thats not too much, Still though, I mean why would all of these helpful seo sites/companies release products without the slightest bit of warning?

It just doesn't make sense to me. I mean I guess if you were running this checker on the same domain multiple times a day for several weeks, Google could catch on...but even then it doesn't make sense to me because what is stopping a competitor from easily doing this?

      Just curious.....

        Read the Google Webmaster Guidelines.

Like askloz suggests, Google have their own way of checking this kind of information, I'd personally stick with that.
