Currently top of page 2, how can I get to page 1?

Hi there. So, after working for about two months my niche site has reached the top of page 2 for my target keyword. I'm wondering if anyone can offer some tips on what I can do to get my site to page 1, and hopefully number 1 overall.

Here's what I've done so far:

- 5 Web 2.0 sites: After creating these I hired someone from Fiverr to make some backlinks for them. From what I can tell only 3 have been indexed so far.

-Article directories: I have articles posted on ezine, sooper articles and go articles.

-2 expired domains: I found 2 expired domains with good link profiles and good PA/DA an trust stats that were related to my niche. So I bought them up, added new content and linked them to my site.

-Blog comments: I've done about 10. I made sure these comments were made on pages relevant to my niche.

-Social Bookmarks: I haven't done too much work here. I started accounts on Stumble Upon and Delicious and added links to my site.

-Web Directories: I submitted my site to about 50. From what I can see I've been accepted by 4. I know a lot of these sites have tons of applications to sort through, so I may see a few more backlinks pop up from these in the coming months.

-Social Media: I've made a youtube video with a link to my site. I've also set up a Facebook page and a Google+ page. I've been meaning to set up Twitter for a while but haven't gotten to that yet.

-In addition to all these I found a very authoritative site with a directory related to my niche. The directory page has a PR of 4. I contacted the site and after reviewing my site they added my link to their directory.

So, moving forward, I have a few options:

-Guest Posting: This is one form of link building I haven't tried yet. There don't seem to be too many active blogs in my niche but I'm sure I could find somewhere to post.

-More expired domains: I have a few more relevant domains that I've found. Their stats aren't as impressive as the first two I used though, but they still might help. After the first two got indexed I moved up three spots on Google, so these links obviously have some effect.

-More Web 2.0's: I could make more of these, but I'm not sure it's worth it. They seem to take a long time to get indexed (I still have two I made over a month ago that aren't showing up on Google) and I'm not sure how much they've helped my cause so far.

-Paying for high PR links or link building services: I'm not crazy about this option either. So far I've built all the links myself. It's been a lot of work, but it also gives me a lot of control over my link profile. If Google has a problem with any of these links I can simply delete them. If I start paying other people for links they now have control over them. They may not do a good job, or the links may not last and now I'm out a lot of money have bad links pointing to my site.

-I could just stop link building and wait: I know there are still links that haven't been indexed yet. I could just keep writing new content for my site and wait for these links to show up.

Anyways, sorry for the long post. If anyone has any ideas what I should do at this point it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

try 301 redirecting those domains you bought to your site. Better than just linking

Do not start 301 redirecting a bunch of domains to your site. Bad idea and a great way to get on Google's radar in a bad way. Especially if you do the 301 redirect as the entire site to the homepage of your money site.

When a real site changes domains and has a need for a 301 redirect, it usually is done page by page. Each individual page gets redirected to a new page where either the content has moved to or similar relevant content now resides.

If you are buying up domains and building links to your site, they don't have to be relevant when you buy them. You can repurpose them. In other words, do not feel like you can only get a benefit by buying domains that currently contain content related to your niche. You can buy unrelated domains and replace the content, making them now relevant to your niche.

I'm thinking about doing this, it's good that you don't have to be super fussy about the previous content. I am wondering though, if say I bought a car parts domain, but repurposed it for say a dog grooming site, would the backlinks coming in to the car parts domain make all those links irrelevant since I repurposed it to something totally unrelated?

I have not found that to be the case. I've been building networks like this since long before they were the in thing to do.

Really what you are doing is taking advantage of the PR of the site you bought. You are creating a PR 4 relevant link, for example.

I have become very picky about domains though. I won't buy Sportscars.com and turn it into a site about wedding planning. I make sure the site has a name I can repurpose in some way to make sense.

I'm also operating in a lot of very competitive niches with a lot of eyeballs watching. If I was doing something in a very uncompetitive space, I might not be quite as careful.

Thanks for the tip Mike. I have found one domain with some very impressive stats, but I have been unsure whether I should buy it and use to link to my site, as it's original topic and backlinks are completely unrelated to my niche. However, the domain is rather generic and could spun to mean pretty much anything, so maybe I'll follow your advice and buy this one up as well. It may be just what I need to push my site over the top.

Some people might argue but I say find a good site in your niche and contact them about having a link posted on their home page. Few things to note:
1.the site has to be in your niche
    2. it must have low OBL - no more than 10
    3. try to find a website that gets constantly updated

It's sometimes hard to find sites that would post your link on their homepage. The response rate is about 1 out of 10 but it will well worth the time.

Also start making tier 2 links to your tier 1, this will get them indexed. I use backlinksindexer service, it gets about 70% of my links indexed after the first run.

The other thing I do, is I make tier 2 links from public networks. It might be a little risky but so far I didn't have my sites penalized and I have been doing it for over a year now.

    Hope that helps, good luck!

What do you think about using a domain that contained english contents (and "english backlinks) to make a PR site of another language?
