Hello,

Can a site be also penalized, or at least have some negative impact, if it has backlinks from a site ( or more ) that has been penalized by penguin?

Thank you.

Yes, just like how 301 can pass penalties as well.

I wouldn't link from a penalized domain, just a risky move.

Yes that's a terrible source for backlinks.

I don't have the slightest idea why people just go buggy.

If you relied on backlinks from the site, obviuously they are
not as valuable. In fact, the links may be gone. That would
      affect your PR.

But is that a penalty? No. It's a reshuffling of data.

      Huge difference.

People would just put lots of links on their penguin-plagued site
      to their competitors.

Those links no longer help. Not helping is not a penalty. Putting a link
there would not help, but why would it hurt? No logical reason.

Yes this will be bad for you too. Or google can put penalty on your website or your website can be completely removed from search engine.

    Thank you for all answers.

Well, I do not wish to "buil links" from that kind of websites. The thing is that I was checking my site's bl profile, and I saw some links from a site that I know that was hit by P 2.0.

    Thank you all again.

Don't listen to the nay sayers. There is currently no evidence whatsoever to suggest that a link from a penalized site actually causes a penalty. Show me at least a case study if not an experimental study and I'll believe it.

The factors that we see influencing Penguin are plainly visible over at the OpenPenguinData project and PenguinAnalysis. Pretty straight forward stuff that we always knew, except instead of looking at 1 factor at a time for over optimization, Penguin looks for patterns in optimization across a wide number of factors.

You are assuming that he was hit by Penguin and not an unnatural link warning and he's mistaken.

The same can be said to you, show us evidence that a 301 redirected domain that was hit by Penguin doesn't cause a penalty.

I'd say no, there isn't a risk in the odd link from a Penguin penalised site. If 90% of your links come from such sites, then yes you may have a problem.

If your site is linked to a google penalized site then it's really dangerous and risky, you can't be safe with it, even a single link can harm you site.

Well, I disavow that link and sent an email to the webmaster. It's better to play safe.
