Backlinking: wordpress homepage or optimized post?

Quick newbie question here guys!

I have my main site as a wordpress blog.

Do I want these backlinks directed to the main URL of my blog or do I want it to the URL of a keyword optimized post?

For example, would it be more effective to link back with the anchor DJ Training to a post on my blog that is optimized for the word DJ Training or is it okay just to link it to my home page?

Thanks in advance!

~Sean

That actually depend on the keyword you have for your blog and keyword you have for your post.

Suppose you have a post which is targeted with keyword apple and your blog target the keyword fruit..
it's better to create a backlink for apple with the link to that individual post.
You can check for which post , which keyword is doing the best using google analytic and thus you can create more of backlink...

If you want to rank higher for that specific keyword, then you should try building links for that post. And if you want your site to rank high, for example if you're running a Web Design Servicec site and want to rank high for the keyword "Web Design Services", then you should create backlinks for that.

According to me, you should build links for your site's main URL rather than the individual posts.

I recommend that you treat each page individually with a couple/few keyword in mind for each page. So in this case I would optimize the main URL for "DJ Training" and build links mostly to that and a couple other similar keywords such as "training for DJ's".

I would also build links to your inner pages, so if you have a page about DJ Turn Tables you will want to build some links optimized for that, and so on.

I feel that this would be a better strategy than only building links to your main page in the long run.
