Guys,

I found a EMD with low competition (14,000 direct searches) and launched a site with 6 unique, quality articles with around 350 words each.

Now, some days after, I'm ranked in the last position on Google’s second page on the EMD keywords.

I have optimised pretty much everything in the site - quality title, images (optimised), internal links and optimised H1, 2 and 3. I'm also working manually on linkbuilding to get some juice.

If I continue posting quality content about the subject, will I eventually get on the Google's first page?

So you think, if I do that, I get it on the first page?

You're not giving us much info about your competition. But if you look at what the competition on the first page has going on via Majestic or some such tool….and just continue to build high quality links regularly then you should definitely see some movement towards the front page.

The 1 link i Google's first page is kind of like a landingpage - or let's say, a content-page about the keywords in a site about the larger subject. But, it's only one page of content, and very badly produced.

My website is and EMD on the keywords, and all the content is about the keyword - a super-niche site, if you want.

It sounds like you've optimised your site pretty well. Keep plugging away and adding fresh content to your site as well as backlinks.

If it had been me I would of made my posts 500 words. Also do you have some internal linking within your site?

I would maybe add a video too if possible that is also optimised for the EM keyword.

It will take a little time but I think you are on the right path...good luck.

          Hi Brewer,

Yes, I have a whole lot of internal links - from 6-10 in every article.

Now the site have 8 articles in total. I'll post 4 next week and 4 more the week after.

Does a random Youtube video - of course, with relevant content - add any value in terms of SEO? I did not know that.

If you can convert an article in to a video. Say using Powerpoint and add a voice-over and post that on YouTube and then embed it on your site using the <object> option (the fourth YouTube option when want to embed).

It will help plus will also help you engage with your visitors and that can also help with bounce rate too. If your site is a wordpress site then I would recommend this plugin too:

WordPress › Reduce Bounce Rate « WordPress Plugins

Please feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

Thaks! The site has already risen two positions, just because of added content. We are now on the 18th postion (on Google's second page).

I'll try adding a video using the <object> option.

Like they said, it really depends on the strength of the first page competition. Adding more content is great, but you're probably going to need to introduce some link building tactics to the equation if you want to gain and hold top positions.

I've got external links reffering to the site on 5 of my websites - is that okay? One is on the same server, and the others are not. One of the websites is PR4, the others 3, 2 and 1. Will this help?

The amount of articles or word count has nothing to do with ranking high on the SERP.

Now that you didn't rank on the first page after the on site SEO, the next phase is to start building powerful links. Adding content is NEVER about building backlinks.

You say that I need to build powerful links - ok, I will.

Now, what I don't understand is: "Adding content is NEVER about building backlinks".

Part of building powerful links is building backlinks, right?
