What happens if you don't link back in a SILO Structure?

As far as I understand, a silo structure goes link A to B, B to C, C to D, D to E, and then E back to A again.

What happens if you don't link E back to A, as you are continually adding new posts to the category/sub-category?

    The point of a silo is to have link juice flow between all your pages. If you don't link E back to A. The link juice will stop at E and won't flow back to A and recycle the power.

    What you are describing is the daisy-chain silo structure

    It was the product of one individual, and largely discredited by most SEOs

    Daisy chain siloing is not user friendly, nor practical in real-world situations

    e.g. if you had a pet site, and you siloed birds, rodents, fish, cats, dogs, etc.

    How could you possibly link the last article in birds silo to rodents landing page, and then last article in rodents silo to fish landing page? - It makes no sense

    Stick to normal siloing - where the last birds article does not link to rodents landing page, and the last rodents article does not link to fish landing page

      I was actually talking about linking within the same child category. Anyway, I list categories on the homepage, which links to the sub-categories, which links to posts which have links to the other posts belonging to the sub-category.I still don't know whether this is a silo structure or not, but this structure makes the most sense to me.

    Every child page inside a silo has to contain one link back to the landing page, as well as links to other child pages within the silo. Remember, it is the landing page that you really want ranked, the child pages are just bonus.
