Getting Traffic With Authority Article Page?

Hey people,
I found something that may work well,
I made a guest post on a PR 4 high quality/authority blog, and within a matter of a 2 days I'm now ranked between #8 and #12 for a medium competition keyword.
It's not my money site thats ranked there, though I wish it was, but I have 2 links to my money site on the guest post. Also I ensured to request the correct tags and page url for SEO. But I am amazed as it took about a month on a blog to even get #15 for a lower competitive keyword that is similiar.
Have you guys ever got success from finding a high PR website to make a blog post with a direct link to your money site? Did you find the page achieved page 1 or 2 within a couple of days?
