How to silo an existing website?

Okay, so I have this website that I would like re-vamp i.e. give it a silo structure, start adding content regularly and seo it up. It has about 15 blog posts and currently the blog posts appear on the homepage.

I haven't done much on or off page SEO and the site (as in the homepage) is currently at page 10 of SERPs for the chosen keyword (i.e. the title tag of the homepage). Plus a few posts appear on page 1 but for low search and low competition keywords. I don't care much for the posts' rankings right now, and I do know that page #10 of SERPs does nothing for you.

So with that as the background, my questions are:
(1) Is it okay to move the blog page as an inner page and have an intro of sorts on the homepage (that I will be linking to from blog posts)

(2) Is it okay to change around the title tag of the blog page (which will now be an inside page) and also of the homepage. Remember that the homepage of the site is on page 10 of SERPs. Again, I know that doesn't quite call for a victory dance, but I am happy that it's made it to the top 10 for a medium comp keyword despite not having done much SEO wise. So if I change around things too much, will that have a negative impact on the site?

I think considering you only have 15 posts that you should be fine to do whatever massive changes you like as long as you plan on creating lots and lots of new content in the future.

IMO as your site is thin, so there will no much harm even if you re-structure your site at this stage. For any URLs changes you can preserver the indexing using 301 redirection techniques.

Thanks! I don't plan to mess around with the permalinks. If I move the blog page to an inner page, that should not change the URL structure for individual post's page (the page where the full length version of the post appear).

You should keep adding content on your site atleast twice a week, and then try to do the URL changes slowly.

Having only 15 pages on the entire site isn't much, I mean I have individual categories larger than that. If your planning on expanding the site with a lot more pages, now's the time to get your site tweaked for the long haul, get your permalink structure setup like you want it to be & organize the pages into categories. Use the small group of category pages to help rank for your target keywords (relevant internal links).

Since your sitting on page #10 you have nothing to lose, If you were at position #5 (example) you would need to be extremely careful messing around with existing links & permalinks/URLs.

As this is the second thread of yours on the same topic, I get the feeling this is really bugging you

Look up "pages not posts" video on bloggingunderground.com - its exactly what you are asking about

Yes, you do change the title of the blog posts page - usually to something like "keyword news"

Anyway, watch the video and make the changes - you will get better results than with a "normal" WordPress blog

I used to make these "pages not posts" WordPress sites - but nowadays I only make WordPress silo sites - as they are unbeatable for organic search rankings - and they require a lot less back-linking to top rank
