I've a website which has been hit by latest Penguin 2.1 update. After analyzing the causes, I found out that I have created 1k+ links through related niche forums in short duration. So I was wondering should I remove those links?

I mean those links are from authority forums and relevant to my targeted website. That's why I'm not ready to remove those links. So what you people suggest about it?

Yes, you should remove those links, if you not want to remove, at least change their anchors and linked your website directly.

Getting links from forum signature is an old technique. Dont go for the taking links from forum even if is related to your niche. Obviously it will help you to increase the traffic but will not help you to boost up your ranking. For e.g in past, lot of people are posting their signature in warrior forum and got links and boost their ranking but if you can see now,the scenario has been changed totally.

When you say it won't help, does it mean we should just take it out? (we will be penalised for doing so? Or it's just that it offers no value - but someone may click on the link and visit)

are the links you created is manual or u used automated software i don't think manual links from good authority sites are not going to harm i guess.

You can have the links remove before doing a reconsideration request. Also make sure to check and fix your website's onpage if ever it has some issues before doing a reconsideration request.

The problem occurs when you built links to these sites with a super fast speed and use automated softwares, if you build your links manually and slowly then you won't have any problem. Google strictly reacts to sites that build backlinks fast and use softwares.

We have maintained good rankings throughout all of the updates with a good diversified back linking portfolio that mainly consists of control PDF back links from sites such as scribe.

These methods will help you when you choose to use them
