Not all keywords rank in google?

I read in a few guides that only certain keywords used in youtube will rank in google.

If I don't see a video on google don't bother targeting that keyword

Is this true?

    I doubt that's true, the reason I say that is I rank self hosted video thumbnails (not Youtube videos) in Google SERPs. I'm 99.99% sure Youtube videos rank the same as self hosted in Google SERPs.

    The way Google SERPs works is the video attaches to a web page, the web page has to be ranked just like any other web page that doesn't have a video, it's normal SEO. Self hosted video thumbnails will attach to internal pages on a self hosted domain regardless of where the page lands in the SERPs (ex: position #1 or position #101).
