Move Blog To An Inner Page?

I recently posted a question here asking if it was okay to re-structure an existing website to give it a silo structure. Since the site has all of 15 posts, it looks like re-structuring it will be okay.

But here's what I want to make sure: if I move the blog (which is currently the homepage) to an inside page such as mydomain.com/blog, I won't need to set up any redirects, correct? Because if I click on the individual post it takes me to:

mydomain.com/post-name-here

which is the same URL compared to the scenario where the blog is the homepage.

Please let me know. Thanks!

I am a bit confused as to what you are asking.

I was assuming that setting up silos for your blog was good, but it was siloing the posts of your blog, not moving it to a section of the domain. But I am not really sure what it is you are asking, trying to do.

      Hi Tim,

First off, hope you doing better now??

Okay, to make things clearer: I do want to retain the blog still under the new structure but move it to an inner page such as mydomain.com/blog (currently the blog is the homepage).

Instead, on the homepage , I would like to put up an article that will sort of introduce the topics I cover in the posts. These topics will be post categories (silos).

The front page article will target broad, high-competition keyword(s) and the blog posts will target long tail, low comp keywords.

And of course, I will try to interlink within each silo as much as possible.

I haven't figured out the details, but that's the plan right now.

Hope that makes sense. Or did I confuse you more

          Hi,

What you are asking about is actually mike leibner's bloggingunderground .com "pages not posts" method

Yes, it does work fine - I used to build those types of blog sites before I started siloing every new site

I recommend you look up "pages not posts" method for your current wordpress site - but silo your next wordpress site

Okay, here's all I need to know for now:

If I move the blog posts on an existing website from the homepage to a sup-page on the site such as mydomain.com/blog, will I need to setup any kind of redirects?

I think what you want to know are potential impacts on google rank of moving your blog (which currently your home page), to a sub-page.*
