My brand has hyphens

Hi,
I am managing a domain bought in 2012. It has hyphens because the name of the brand has them, but I don't know if I should buy a new one and redirect the old one, or just continue with the same one with hyphens.
I have read a lot of bad comments about having the hyphens, but I think that maybe Google will be able to determine if you are including the hyphens in order to do foul play or it's just a real name. The name of the official brand has one hyphen as well the domain name.
What's your opinion?
