Question about juicy backlinks

I have a pretty well established site which has a range of pages. Several pages reach up to page rank 4.

If I put a link to blog on every page, will it have any more benefit than having it on just one of the highest PR page?

Puzzled to how it works.

Note: Both sites are in the fitness market, one being a directory, and the other is a blog.

I would suggest just having a link to the blog on your home page. Multiple links from the same site do not dramatically improve the power of those links and it could hurt in terms of overoptimizing keywords depending upon the anchor text of the link. But in general, one link on the home page is going to be good enough and in my opinion safer then linking to any external site via sitewide links.

Thanks LloydMS. So having a link on the main page > having it on the side bar, sitewide?

Does anyone else have a any comments to add?

First of all, make sure they are on different C class IP's

2nd, I will send a few links to homepage and few links to the inner pages. Let say, you've got 10 pages with PR4. I will send 3 links to homepage and rest backlinks to the inner pages.

Sidebar can work, but let say you have 1,000 pages and you just insert main keyword, you will be getting 1000 backlinks from your one main website with just one keyword. Which can cause over optimization of anchor text.

Therefore, after few days you can lose rankings.

Your best bet is to give backlinks from your homepage.

    Much appreciated, saddists.

Could you touch on the IP situation again? Both blogs are hosted on the same server, so 1) I'm not sure if they share the same IP, 2) if they are, how do I get them on different IPs, 3) what are the risks of having high PR backlinks coming in from the same IP?
