I have a wix website and I just want to know if it is worth my while keeping it or should I get it rebuilt in Wordpress. I want to optomise for certain keywords and when I use SEOMOZ I get a page check analyse of "F" because its can't read the site properly. I know google can read wix sites but my question is before I start building lots of backlinks etc, should I just get the site rebuit in wordpress?

The problem you are having is because of how Wix serves pages through Ajax. SEOMoz's robot is too limited to figure out how to read it correctly.

Only main issues with Wix (unless they have addressed this recently) is they do not allow users to setup 301 redirects. So if you trash a page and move it to a new URL, you lose any SEO value that original page had. 99% of users will never do this, so it is not a big deal.

There is also some debate about the hashtag in their URLs, but that is just how sites designate that pages are served through Ajax. You can search some Wix sites in Google and see that they index just fine.

Thank you for your answer mikefrieedman. this is one other thing tho.. WIX will not let you put in H1 , H2, or H3 tags.

Are these that important or will it not effect the seo too much?

I would never waste my time on something that didn't allow basic HTML tags.

Are you sure they don't allow H1 tags? That seems a bit silly.

I have not used them myself, so I cannot verify that.

I've been researching Wix for the last day now. With their new html5 templates, it is sooooo tempting. They are beautiful...and the interactive apps that you can add to it for visitor interaction is amazing. I have been oh so tempted to switch to them and dump my current vice of 7yrs. But...

I have decided not to due to the SEO factor. Here is what I found. I adore how easy they make it to properly add titles, tags, and all the other important SEO factors to your main pages(they call them master pages). Here is where it gets bad though. According to the threads on their support forum, deep linking is currently not possible. If I understand correctly from what the Wix support staff posted was that you currently can not link or index deeper pages within your Wix site. I went to add page file names with keyword phrases and you can not do that for all of the pages (only your 5 "master" pages). They said that it is something that they are looking to "possibly" add in the future. That alone made me turn away.

Secondly, I kept hearing of slow load times. I looked in their support forums and even for the html5 sites, people are still complaining. One guy posted (a Wix staff member) that tested, it took a site 14.3 seconds to load! No one searching the internet is going to wait for that. They will give up and click on the next site on the search results.

Lastly, their headquarters are in Israel. I don't know where you are located, but I am in the United States. With our constant upheavals with other countries, I am very, very leery to have my website(my financial livelihood) be at the mercy of any other country. So many other countries hate us (and rightfully so), I could see some political mess happening and Bam, they shut down their U.S office and cut all ties with U.S customers. They did just go public with their stock, but I don't know if that makes it any safer.

Hopefully that helps. I came across your post while I was researching them for a project. I spent about six hours scoping them out so I thought I'd share what I found. I really would love to use them simply for the beautiful templates, the mobile and tablet functionality and the engaging apps that it offers...but it's like my last car I bought...the pretty shiny one was tempting and it had awesome gadgets but in the end I went with my reliable, plain jane VW. Looks like I'll stick with my current web tools for now too.

I just looked at a nice looking Wix template, but the entire template is javascript (WTH?).

Open this Wix template while running the Firefox web/dev plugin & turn off: javascript, CSS, images. You'll get a blank page which is what Googlebot will be looking at.

    Here's the template: hxxp://www.wix.com/demone2/bayne-consulting1

You would have to depend 100% on external links for that template to ever rank in the SERPs. That's horrible for SEO.

It is not as good as Wordpress.
WordPress is the most SEO-friendly CMS application.

Honestly, you should do research before posting lies on forums. It's easy to add H1, H2, etc. to Wix sites. They also have their own SEO wizard. You should give it a try instead of badmouthing for no reason.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.
Who told me this? An ex Google web spam engineer.

        What's your excuse?

Being transparent: I have never been one to support the likes of WIX or others of a similar nature. The templates they use are built to cover so many bases that it will never really please anyone completely. Also the way in particular WIX deals with pages is concerning in particular - others do it too I should add.
