Can Anyone Recommend a Good (current) Backlinking Strategy?

Hey everyone,

It's been awhile since I've built backlinks. I've never been very good at it. I'm a content writer so that's always been my thing.

I have a niche site that I haven't done much work on for the past few months. I've done very little backlinking. I have a total of 22 backlinks according to ahrefs.

Considering that, the site seems to be doing okay if I could just come up with a good backlinking strategy.

It's ranking #47 for it's man keyword and #14 and #27 for its other significant keywords. Its also ranking #4, #1, and #48 on Yahoo, respectively and #28, #3 and #63 respectively as well.

I'm just nervous to start backlinking as I'm always paranoid I'm going to get my site penalized.

Backlinking for this site is also difficult because the topic of the site isn't very...it's hard to come up with content. It's basically about certain types of software for home improvement.

If anyone can recommend how I should get started on backlinking for this site, that would be fantastic!

There is nothing to panic if you know what to do and where to begin. You just need to build quality backlinks for your site. Start off with guest blog posting, better Content Marketing and Social Media Syndication seems to work great for me post penguin 2.1. I recently made some post on post penguin 2.1 working strategies on my blog. If you want you can check, hope it will help.

How does everyone find blogs to guest post on? My niche is fairly boring and there aren't any related blogs that I've been able to find.

Whenever, i have to search for blogs to guest post on my niche, i simply head over to technocrati and search blogs in the blog directory. I do search on google and facebook for communities, groups and pages. If i get a decent site with good authority and if they accept guest blog post, i start communicating with the webmasters. You can also find some service on this forum who provide guest blogging service. Hope that helps.

Before you start you must set a goal for your link building campaign. This is very important to keep you on track of the things that you will be doing.

If you are going to use your content writing skills, then link bait can be a good choice of method since it is done mostly through contents (videos, articles, images, etc.)

To give you an example, if you are going to write something about home security through native software, it is best move to know the intention of the users while searching for such topics.

Do they want a service or just information?
What are the specific things that they want to know in searching?
How are they going to react whenever they see your content? (to know this, conducting a small survey would help)
How are you going to define all possible situations and provide their needs?

Those are some of the points you might want to look at. When you look at how SEO is done nowadays, you will see that baits are widely used and proven to be one of the most effective methods in link building.

Without making things complicated, the best strategy these days is to buy expired PR domains which have good quality back links pointing to it.

Then add unique, relevant content to those domains and link them to your money sites.

This seems to work really well for me.

Can anyone point me to a guide or give some instructions on how to look for and buy expired PR domains? How much content do you develop on them? Do you make them high quality sites still?

Are you willing to pick up Scrapebox? It's got a great expired domain finder and it verifies (for the most part) that the PR is real. Be careful when buying expired domains as a lot of them actually have a fake PR.

Agree. This ranks even in the most competitive markets. And it's the safest way to go about SEO these days while still getting high end results.

Google has much bigger fish to fry that targeting everyone's high PR sites. Especially when they looks and feel real.

This is something I'm going to have to teach myself as I'm not familiar with building private blog networks. I'll give your video a watch and see if I can become comfortable with buying expired PR domains.

There are tools that can analyze your site incl all post and you will know why you are not ranked in google or ranked low etc. They have tools about auto submit articles. They have spinning tools. True.

The best thing about this method is the fact that you get websites ranked using just a handful of links and that is exactly the reason why this method stays under the radar.

I have at times outrank websites which had over 90,000 back links with just 5 to 10 homepage back links.

Yes, it is that easy :-)

    hi nbseo,

as for your question i would like to break down my reply into three different points so i going ahead next:

    1. you said your niche you are in is pretty rare with no so many people in there...so my suggestion would be you do a research test to see if a profitable niche with plenty of people spending money on it.. if not...its not worth your effort and time trying to get visitors from google or anywhere else. (Always in the event you wanna make a living off your site)

2 . In regards to backlinking strategy.. keep in mind Google is really passionate about social media sites as these are the biggest trend in the internet for years to come) so get some backlinks from facebook or twitter (mainly if ur site is brandnew because this would help your site to get some reputation in the google eyes) also try to build backlinks from web2.0 sites (wordpress, blogspot, etc) and social bookmarking sites...they are safe sources of backlinks that never will hurt your site "health" when it comes to get top rankings.

    3. To find blogs related to your niche...just use the googles blog searching functionality..just type your niche keyword and take a look at the results coming up!!

hope this has been of much help to u!!

wish u the very best and of course to all of other warriors going thru this thread!!

    cheers to all..

YasirYar and KyGuntar are right. Build up your private domain network. Keep your network private. Be very wary about buying into someone else's network, ESPECIALLY if the owner of the network advertises. If the owner of the network or high PR site advertises in public that you can join for a price, be aware that Google can see the same advertising and can penalize anyone who joins.

Also, if you want backlinks, add as many wikipedia (and similar high authority) links to the text that you write. For example, if you write "Lady Gaga" in your text make sure to link those words to the wikipedia entry for Lady Gaga.

Yes, that reminds me for some of my websites where I have link out to authority domains, I have generally seen a better increase in rankings.

I don't really have the stats to back it up but linking out to authority domains does seem to give you an extra push :-)

The idea of a private network is great... but then you start adding the costs up...

Well domains alone can be pretty tasty... you invest all the money and then google kicks teh shite out of it.... DOnt get me wrong if there was a fail safe way of doing it then fair enough but I have looked and looked and not seen something that I would throw money at..

Guest posting works really well, but you can also build a few of your own small blogs using the likes of blogger, yola, wordpress etc. If you build about 10 blogs with good content (3 good articles per blog should be enough) then you can build much higher volumes of links connected to those blogs to pass more link juice up to your primary blog.

So you have 2 tiers of backlinks- tier 1 is very cautious and only a few links, tier 2 is more aggressive. If you do buy srapebox you can use that for some tier 2 links but don't use it for tier 1.

If you are looking at blogs to guest post on, you may look at this site - myblogguest.com

Also, just making sure you are not using any of the blogspot, wordpress domain and getting ranked for the keywords.

Do you want to share the niche ? As I do have some blogs and look for content writers.

Your comment is another proof that backlinks is not so important as many people think it is, I'm ranking on first page of google with many words just posting quality content and linking my contet with youtube videos related with the content that I posted.
