If, in Google, someone searches 'auto enrolment' will 'auto-enrolment' be a findable result (and vice versa)?

Google will return results for the 2 word combo and for the combined word. It's a way underused technique.

    Check Matt Cutts blog.

hyphens are good and they are considered as a word separator, also it becomes easy for a person to read a url. using hyphens doesn't have any bad effect.

Hyphens are basiclly stop words that get ignored. Search any US phone number with the area code wrapped in parenthesis ().

Example: (123) 456 7891 will return the same phone number with/without parenthesis.
