1. Do keywords in title need to be exact? aka Keyword is, Best Water Bottles...Would the title do best being called "Best Water Bottles"? or can I call it, "The troubles and tribulations of finding the Best Water Bottles" and still rank just as efficently for that keyword?


2. Kind of similar question....when writing a product review article. If the product was "Johns Grill F44 Barbeque". Will using just that keyword work, even if a lot of people are searching for "Johns F44″ (shorter version). Or would I have to physically add "Johns F44″ in that article to hit for that keyword?

    I use the exact search phrase as the title - but I've read that its best to use the exact phrase first, then a variant second - so that could be:
    Best Water Bottles - Where to find a good water bottle
    Best Water Bottles - Water bottles for under $10
    Best Water Bottles - Top 5 water bottles on Amazon

    You want the actual keyword in the opening sentence, closing sentence, and somewhere in the middle

    You also want as many "related" or "similar" phrases in the article as possible

    So finding LSI keywords, or using sub-keywords from your keyword list you could structure your article paragraphs like this:

    Opening paragraph contains keyword Johns Grill F44 Barbeque

    Paragraph 2 contains a variant

    Paragraph 3 contains a variant

    Paragraph 4 contains keyword Johns Grill F44 Barbeque

    Paragraph 5 contains a variant

    Paragraph 6 contains a variant

    Closing paragraph contains keyword Johns Grill F44 Barbeque

    I can't stand fake review sites but I'll answer the question anyways...

    It doesn't matter what the product/service is, it can always be broke down to fine details for creating web pages/content. I'll use the water bottle example.

    Here's the Amazon product description.
    • Color:
      • Blue
      • Violet
    • 20 ounce BPA-free reusable water bottle
    • Convenient filter change reminder right on the bottle
    • Pull-up drink nozzle with hygienic cover
    • Leak proof bottle design
    • Finger loop for easy carrying

    Each one of those bullets could be additional internal pages (internal links) on the main subject Brita Soft Squeeze Water Filter Bottle.

    Here's another example (below) I posted a while back, same way of looking at a product/service, break the product down to the fine details.

    If you look at that image below you might say that's a screw/bolt, but If you break that image down, there's a lot more than just a screw/bolt.


    The details:
    • Set screw
    • Allen
    • Steel
    • Black finish
    • Right hand threads
    • Coarse threads
    • 1/4" diameter
    • 20 thread count
    • 1/4" length
    • 1/8" drive size

    The same goes for ranking web pages as the screw/bolt example, each one of those details could be it's own web page, that briefly mentions the page your trying to rank, & links back to that target page with internal links.

    Keyword stuffing in moderation is a good thing. You can analyse your site to ensure that you optimize your keyword usage.

    Mix it up. You use the exact keyword. Use variations of the keyword. Use synonyms when possible. Change the order of the keyword. Use long tail versions.

    Go Google something and see that Google bolds the words they think match the search term. Those words are often not in the same order. And sometimes they are synonyms and not even the exact word.

    Google has evolved where using the keyword exactly - over and over - is not necessary and can contribute to a site being penalized.

    So you can use "Best Water Bottle" for the title. But then in the description you could use "the best bottles for water". You can put words in between like "Best Blue Water Bottle" and you can create long tail versions like "best water bottle for drinking". (I'm just using simple examples).

    The key is that you diversify. You'll find that you rank not only for the main keyword, but other search term variants as well.

    What I do is mix the two, make sure you have nearly the exact match keyword in the title but make it clickworthy. That way users in the SERPs will want to click on my site to read the content.

    Backlinks are really what makes the difference in the SERPs.
