Youtube Content ID System Will Kill Us

I am afraid this will at some point kill all our business as I am in the gaming industry myself.

I have no idea what Google is trying to do with the Content ID system and why. Such a shame about how they don't care about people that made them that rich.

it's a way for YT to detect copyright infringement in videos (specifically gaming vids)

      it also doesn't work well.

How is this going to kill anyone other then people who pirate other peoples copyright material?

    • People who "create" content and publish it on YT make Google rich.
    • People who "steal" other peoples content and "illegally" republish it to YT make themselves rich and Google poor with lawsuits.

Well done Google, and please roll this out into your search engines too. Saves "real owners" of content costs in filing takedown notices and filing lawsuits.

If by being in the gaming industry you mean that you upload videos of yourself playing popular games, I don't see how this is going to hurt you one bit. Google is not taking any action on their own. They are leaving it up to the copyright holder. No game publisher is going to go around taking down videos of people playing their games.

Oh no! I can't plunder youtube anymore!

You people slay me. You bitch and moan when someone steals
a gawd awful 300 word article of yours, but could care less about stealing
      someone's copyrighted material.

These videos are problematic from a copyright perspective. The visuals and soundtracks usually belong to the game's publisher, or to any number of third party licensors, especially if they feature music.
Especially problematic if you MONETIZE said content.

      Yeah, I know,
