Question about anchor text

I was just curious about something while I was back linking, I am new to this so I get curious a lot

If I have a keyword phrase I want to rank high for, and it is say... dog houses

If someone searches for "wooden dog houses", not in quotes though, will my intended page still rank high seeing as "dog houses" is in their?

Or does anchor text have to be exactly what the searcher types in?

if you want to rank your own keyword..Exact phrases as anchor text is the thing you MUST DO. Plural word is better than singular.

Yes it would depend, but the advice given of using plurals is correct because the plural form will cover both the singular and the plural - you get a "2 for 1"...
