How to solve adsense crawler errors?

Recently i am getting too much adsense crawler errors. The main problem is that i have many pages that does not exist, so those pages showing a 404 error pages.
My site is based on PLIGG CMS. So i am thinking that if i redirect all the 404 error pages to index then may be it would be a good idea.
My question is here:
* If i redirect all the 404 pages to index page, is there any possibility that google might ban my site from search engine?
* How do i redirect 404 pages to index page?
Any other solution to solve this problem is also appreciated. Thanks.
