I've seen this phrase bandied about... I could just google it but since I value what you guys and gals have to say more than what wikipedia has to say I figured I'd ask here:

What is meant by "deep linking"?
#deep linking #define
  • Profile picture of the author rainking
it means linking on a page inside of the website (not just the index page), so rather than linking to the index page, you'd link to a page thats deeper in the website navigation (like domainname.com/articles/articlename.htm)

Its typically used in the context of "backlinking" - where you are going to other websites and placing links "BACK" to your web site.

Many times its a good strategy whilst doing so - to place links back to different pages of your site - other than the sales or landing page. Pages deeper than just the home or landing page.
