Hello guys!

New member here and boy am I finding tons of great information to contribute to my e-commerce website. Thank you for all the help.

I am interested in gaining more traffic to my site as a whole. Advertising budget is low and am hoping to come up with cheap ways.

Does SEO take too long?
PPC is costly for high conversion keywords or keyword phrases.
Link building?
Directory submission?
Blogs?

What has worked for you?

I am considering you have a generic e-commerce website about fashion or electronics.

You should start social media promotions. Setup your page on facebook, twitter, pininterest and link it with your website.

Use google adword keyword planner (free) to research keywords for your domain. Setup a blog on your site and periodically post fresh contents there. Google crawlers are hungry for fresh contents and they will love your site. Try to post atleast 2 articles every week (more is always good) to let visitors come again and again to your site.

You can do all these by yourself. For contents, you can write them yourself or hire good quality writers. Off-course these are basic ones, but this will slowly increase authority of your site.

Whatever you do you have to have plenty of BUYER eyeballs viewing your offers and the way to get them is through purchasing high quality, EXCLUSIVE, traffic (leads)

Now you will have to pay for them but they don't have to be a cost. In fact mine are an investment because my conversions and ROI is so high.

Cheap traffic is usually worth as much as you pay for it - worth darn all - whereas great traffic is not a cost, it's an investment.

If you know how to work the traffic source right, you can get a decent amount of clicks for 'cheap'. I can get google clicks for as low as 5 cents and have heard fb clicks can go even lower!

I'd definitely stick with some quality traffic sources though. Google, Bing, FaceBook, etc.

Why do so many people talk about clicks? Clicks are as useful as tits on a bull - unless those people clicking are highly targeted potential buyers!

      And most clicks aren't.

Start thinking about profitable conversions, not clicks. Know your numbers ie Cost, Conversion to Sale Percentage, Profit.

That depends on your definition "too long", and where your site is right now. There's no way to answer without investigating first. You seem to know that SEO can take some time, but it's probably something you should look into even if it took "too long".

If you want instant traffic it's probably something like PPC. I hear B2C e-commerce sites have had success with Facebook, but prepare to experiment a lot. Fan page and promoted posts have worked better than banners for some sites, but there's no guaranteed formula.

Links in signature will not help your SEO. Not on this site, and not on any other forum.

Remarketing with Google AdWords is a great way to target those that have visited your site.

    1. If the visitor did not purchase you can basically follow them around the internet with ads, I recommend image ads for branding and recognition.

    2. The best thing is the costs are low - with CPC bidding you don't pay to follow them around. You only pay if they click. More often then not the user will just type the url manually and visit your site - no ad click, no charge.

    Look into it, good Luck!

I have seen really low costs using YouTube advertising, TrueView. Highly targeted demographic targeting, CPC and or Cost Per View options as low as .01 cent. Highly recommend this for anyone that has budget restrictions, setup through adwords.

I feel like you need a mix of all of those tactics. Yes, SEO takes a long time, but aside from your time, it is free traffic to your site. Directory submissions won't get a ton of traffic to your site, but again, they should help with your SEO. Blogging is another task that's time consuming, but it will help your SEO.

As for cheap traffic? I think AdWords can be very affordable as long as you're going after niche terms.
