Just wondering as in the past I have Copyprotected my content on site however is there really a need anymore?

If someone does copy my content does G see that I had it first or are we both tarred with same brush?

I think copy protecting your content is a deterrent from easily lifting your copy.

Google will see that your content has been published first. You aren't tarred with the same brush.

However, the display results in the search engine will include whatever result is most highly relevant to the user's search.

Duplicate content is one of the most highly misunderstood terms in internet marketing. There is the duplicate content on your own site that is an issue and there is the duplicate content problem across multiple sites.

Google's Matt Cutts has said multiple times to not worry about it unless you use duplicate content that is spammy and stuffed full of keywords. If your intent is to deceive the search engines, then it becomes a problem.
