Blog Traffic vs Website Traffic

Getting website traffic to your blog is slightly different than getting website traffic to a traditional type website or landing page.

If you have a blog, you need to consider a few things.

Firstly, a blog relies heavily on repeat traffic. Visitors that keep coming back again and again.

You need to capture the interest of that visitor instantly if you are going to retain them as a repeat reader. Then, you need to keep holding their interest for the long term. This means good quality fresh content - over and over again. (A Fair Bit Of Work)

If you have a landing page this is slightly different, as a visitor is only likely to visit it once -decide if they want your product and then either leave or buy your product.

OK, they may come back a few times before they decide to purchase, however, once they have purchased, it is unlikely they will come back again.

So, if you have a blog, think carefully about what you are doing to keep your readers interest for the long term.

I wrote a bit more about this on my WF blog.
