I planning on converting my forum from phpbb to xenforo in the next week or so but i am a bit worried about my rankings.

I am currently ranked 1st for over 10 huge searches its taken me months to do but the forum is getting to much for phpbb and need to change.

If i was to change it all over will my rankings be affected?

If the pages, URLs and content stays/remain the same I don't think anything is going to go wrong with your rankings.

And even if it does going back won't be difficult due to the previous links and if the specific pages remain the same.

Apparently you don't have a choice but to carry out the upgrade.

Can't you do a 301 redirection? Or you are talking about the SAME domain? If it's on the same, just be sure to redirect your inner pages (forum categories!) to your new categories of your new forum!

It all depends in if upgrading to xenforo will change your URLs or not. If it does it will cause a problem and you will have to redirect all the old pages to the new ones.

Have you ever heard about 301 redirect, there you can manually edit URLs of new url formats.

Pick a good SEO expert and web designer to help you with the redirections only to the relevant URLs.

Alternatively, there should be a way to get rid of the category and still have the same URL, get a coder.

It will change the url's thats one of the reasons i am upgrading to xenforo.

Phpbb - my current ranked urls look like this: http://www.mysite.com/viewforum.php?...9dc0d9961964d1

Xenforo - Will look like this
      http://www.mysite.com/category

How would i redirect the old pages?

I think that you have to read Google information on their site or ask in their forum, to be 100% sure.

Will you be able to retain the content from one forum to another? If not then don't bother switchign forums as you are just starting over completely.

Also 301 redirect all URLs from the old post location to the new one for best results.

I can retain all posts and topics from phpbb to xenforo.

I will look into 301 redirects

      Thanks all for responding.
